MAKE THE TRUTH EVIDENT

Evident is an Emmy-winning nonprofit newsroom for visual journalism. We produce and distribute visual investigations, documentaries, and a wide range of social video, often in partnership with premier news organizations from around the world. Through innovative evidence-based reporting and dynamic visual storytelling, we bring viewers on a journey of discovery.

This is Evident

Our industry faces a huge challenge

And an unprecedented opportunity.

We’ve entered an open frontier for content, with social media now passing TV and news sites as a source of news. This modern attention economy is crowded and noisy. To break through, great journalism has to tell a great story. And it has to be visually dynamic. That’s where Evident comes in.

Where audiences get their news

Data on which sources people use for news in a given week — from television and print to news websites, podcasts and social media.

Here’s what our partners say about Evident’s …

  • Approach

Evident transformed our coverage overnight. They joined us in the pressure cooker of covering a fast-breaking national news story with a strong mix of journalistic excellence and compelling video reporting and editing. And they brought the social media and multi-format presentation needed to reach our audiences. We'd work with them anytime. And plan to again.

    Neil ChaseCEO, CalMatters
  • Collaboration

Evident has been a vital partner to Bellingcat. Our work together stands for itself. Evident's film-making, top-class visual journalism and on-the-ground reporting capabilities have significantly advanced our ability to tell complex but important stories.

    Eoghan MacguireLead Editor, Bellingcat
  • Impact

Evident was a key part of our partnered investigation into dangers stemming from thin regulation of railroads across North America. The video was widely seen and shared among policymakers, helping to prompt the first instance of the Trump administration actually increasing layers of regulation to an industry and leading to a Murrow Award.
